Events

Final conference of the project was held

On February 10, at Teachers’ House, final conference of the project “Local Leaders of Innovative Education” was held.

The projects launched in 2013 and aimed to introduce the teaching methodology and novelties in Georgia for opening the innovative education initiations in the local communities and schools. This would strengthen the involvement of the leaders and NGOs acting in education field.

In the frames of the project the teachers were selected who passed through the 4 round trainings conducted by Polish, Slovakian, Hungarian and Czech experts. The trainings covered following topics: „Active teaching“; „Creativity in education”; “Innovative education tools” and “Debates and other advisory models for introducing complex and controversial issues”.

During the final conference the project implementation, the activities implemented in the frames of it, using the innovative methodology tools in practice were discussed, as well as 6 workshops were conducted by Georgian, Polish, Slovakian, Hungarian and Czech experts.

Besides the main part of the conference the participants had opportunity to choose and attend one of the workshops.

The workshops topics were as follows: “Art in Education”; “Workshop about Georgian Experience”; “Visual Creativity in School”; “Young discoverers club”; “Games and Simulations in Education” and “Interactive Styles and Their Usage in Practice During Teamwork”.

The aforementioned project is financed by Visegrad International Fund and is implemented by NGO networks “Partners for Democratic Change” (including 5 organizations) and Innovative Education Foundation.

 

Project “Local Leaders of Innovative Education” – 10 Successful Projects

Project “Local Leaders of Innovative Education” financed by International Visegrad Fund and implemented by NGO networks “Partners for Democratic Change” (including 5 organizations) and the Innovative Education Foundation comes to an end.  

The key aim of one year project (April 2013, March 2014) was to introduce the teaching methodology and novelties in Georgia for opening the innovative education initiations in the local communities and schools. This would strengthen the involvement of the leaders and NGOs acting in education field. 

The teachers selected in the frames of the project passed through the 4 round trainings conducted by Polish, Slovakian, Hungarian and Czech experts. 

After the trainings, the participants were able to use the new experience and skills in their schools.

In the frames of the abovementioned project, the project participant teachers and the scientists implemented 10 mini projects, they were as follows:  

1)Project “Bad Habits against Healthy Lifestyle”, the key aim was to be aware of the healthy lifestyle and to promote it.  To achieve this, various methodology including experiments, statistics researches, information brochures distribution etc. were used.  Tbilisi Private School “Binuli” and Rustavi Public School #7 students (9th, 10th, 11th form) participated in it. 

2)Project “Healthy Lifestyle”, the key aim was to conduct trainings regarding negative influence of alcohol, tobacco, drugs etc. on the people’s health. Khashuri Municipality village Osiauri students (9th, 10th, 11th, 12th form) participated in it. 

3)Project “Science-Creative Conference – Contest “We Love Math”, the key aim was to prepare the best creative work, to conduct the best creative lesson in Math, to organize an exhibition Math in Art.  Tbilisi, Vazha-Pshavela Public School #87 students participated in it. 

4)Project “Galvanoplastic” (a chemical method for forming metal parts that exactly reproduce a model) Abkhazia Public School #2 students (11th form) participated in it.  

5)Project “Smart Farmers for Strong Village” in the frames of which the students learnt about the methodology for conducting successful and profitable business. Village Tkemliani Public School #11 students (11th form) were involved in it.  

6)Project “Ecology and We” the key aim was to inform the students regarding the danger of ecological disasters. The project also aimed to involve students in various initiatives connected with the issue. Buckswood International School students (1st – 4th form) participated in it.  

7)Project “Why are Enzymes Important in Food” the key aim was to use all the methodology learnt during trainings. Tbilisi Green School students (8th form) were involved in it. 

8)Project “CAMERA OBSCURA“ – the key aim was to share innovative education methodology learned during the trainings. Kutaisi Public School #17 students and LTD Private School “Georgian School” teachers were involved in it. 

9)Project “Be Smart, Do not Start … (Smoking)” the key aim was to inform students about negative influence of the tobacco on health. Village Khidistavi Public School Scientific Club “Bio” members were involved in it.  

10)Project “We Chose Healthy Lifestyle” the key aim was to show the statistics of tobacco, alcohol and overweight negative influence existing in Georgia and in the world in General.  Batumi Public School #1 students were involved in it  

It is noteworthy that all 10 projects appeared much successful, interesting and amusing for the students. It is also important that besides the project participant schools other public or private schools were actively involved that gave chance the experience to be shared and widely used.  

 

“Local Leaders of Innovative Education” – Forth Round of Trainings

On September 22- 24, 2013 in Tbilisi, in the frames of the project – “Local Leaders of Innovative Education” forth round of trainings were conducted.  

The trainings topic was debates and other debatable models for introducing complex and controversial issues.   

The project leading organization “Partners Czech” representative was conducting the trainings.

Totally 4 rounds of trainings were planned to be held during the project.  

The first trainings, attended by 18 teachers and scientists selected via open competition launched on April 24-26 and the topic was: Active teaching: methodology, effectiveness, influencing values, students’ behavior and students’ relationship towards learning. Second round topic was: creativity in education: methodology and opportunities in everyday school practice. As for the third round the topic was: innovative education tools: simulations, games, role games during teaching.

After the trainings the participants were able to use new experience and skills in their schools as well as they had chance to implement joint projects.
